Young fan hit by 116 MPH Home run Derby ball miraculously OK

A scary scene during the Home Run Derby seems to have ended with smiles.

A youngster patrolling the outfield during Monday’s long ball contest was hit in the head with a 116 mph blast off the bat of Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

The boy – whose name was not released to the public – was seen leaving the left field bullpen under his own power with a big bandage across his skull with ice attached as fans cheered him on.

Despite going down hard — and potentially getting knocked out by the liner — the kid was treated on-site at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park and was doing well enough to attend Tuesday’s All-Star Game, according to TMZ.

Guerrero went on to win the Derby, defeating Rays slugger Randy Arozarena in the final by a score of 25-23.

It wasn’t the first time a Derby ball-shagger was injured.

One was hit by a Pete Alonso line drive during the 2021 contest and had to be helped off the field.

The kids who shag down the fly balls from the Home Run Derby sluggers range in age, with many barely in high school.

Despite the positive news for the pre-teen, many have speculated over the year that having kids attempt to bring down fly balls off the bat from professional athletes is dangerous.
