Steve-O detained by police for jumping off London bridge

Steve-O’s latest stunt is now water under the London bridge.

The 49-year-old “Jackass” daredevil made a big splash Thursday by jumping off Tower Bridge into the River Thames — but authorities weren’t amused.

He claimed to The Post on Friday that while he was detained by police and spent time in a cop car, authorities never discussed charging him with a crime for the jump.

Instead, he said they informed him about recent suicidal leaps from the bridge, as they worried people would copy his stunt and injure themselves.

“I really just responded to the police officers that I wasn’t here trying to make light of any, like, serious mental illness or anything,” Steve-O told The Post.

“I’m not trying to encourage anybody to do that. I really just do what I do to try to spread joy.”

Steve-O added that he urges anyone suffering from emotional or mental distress to “speak up to find help.”

In a statement to The Post on Friday, Chief Inspector Rob Bell from the City of London Police added: “Officers were called to Tower Bridge at 4: 28 p.m. to reports of a person in the water close to Tower Bridge.”

In a video obtained by TMZ on Thursday, the London-born Steve-O opened a Union Jack umbrella that matched his “I Love London” shirt and climbed onto the ledge of the famed bridge.

He counted himself to three and then plunged into the river to the bewilderment of the onlooking crowd.

“I just got out of a cop car… they gave me a real talking to for my ‘Mary Poppins jump’ off the Tower Of London Bridge,” Steve-O wrote on the newly-launched Threads on Instagram.

“I’m always scratching my head to come up with some outrageous thing to do for video content,” he told The Post, adding that the special will be released later this year.

“We just opened up tickets for the late show on July 14 at the Hackney Empire. It’s the taping of my Bucket List. Be there,” he said into the camera in TMZ’s video before being shoved into a cop car.

This wasn’t the first stunt Steve-O completed during his time across the pond.

He claimed in his Instagram Story that he also jumped off a double-decker bus on Thursday.

Steve-O rose to fame in 2000 alongside “Jackass” cast members Johnny Knoxville and Bam Margera. The MTV stunt series was short-lived, but it sparked several spin-offs, including “Wildboyz” and “Dr. Steve-O.”
