Talk about a cat burglar.
A 22-year-old man on Reddit claims his neighbor lied about stealing his cat, causing him to cop a cattitude to get his furry friend back.
As he tells it in a post last week, he invited a neighbor over for a barbecue, where her 8-year-old son formed a special furever bond with the calico kitten he had just rescued.
“When the bbq was over he tried to walk out with my cat and I reminded him that the cat was my cat and that he stayed here but he could come and visit whenever I was home and then he threw a temper tantrum,” the unidentified man alleged about the neighbor boy.
With the meowment ruined, the man claimed that the boy’s mom started offering him money to keep the cat as their own.
“His mom (F 30) let’s call her Karen picked him up and asked how much we wanted for the cat I said nothing he is my cat and he’s not for sale and she kept on persisting then after 10 mins of telling her no she finally left,” the poster wrote.
A few days later, when the man got home from work, his kitty was nowhere to be seen.
He reported checking his Ring doorbell footage to find the neighbor had entered his home and taken his cat.
Hissterical, he walked over to the neighbor’s house to ask if she knew anything about his cat’s whereabouts.
“When I got to Karen’s house she opened the door barely enough for me to see her I asked if she had seen my cat and if she had him,” he recalled.
“She said no when I was walking away I heard this meowing and then she shut the door.”
Furious, the man claimed he confronted the neighbor and “barged in” to take his cat home once and fur all, expressing that he “felt bad” for doing so.
He wrote that the neighbor also gave the police a call because of his trespassing, but he did not reveal how the catfight ended.
While many Reddit users applauded the man for getting his paws dirty to retrieve the cat, others thought he should’ve handled the sourpuss differently.
“You should have just called the police and had her charged. If everything here is accurate, she’s guilty of several crimes. Unfortunately, so are you now,” one claw-abiding citizen pointed out.
“If you’re saying your ring doorbell recorded her breaking into your house and stealing your cat, then you need to press charges with the police. I suppose you could have called the police rather than barging in, but I understand,” another empathized.
Someone else declared: “Your neighbors are really rude and entitled. I hope they will leave your cat alone from now on.”
Others offered tips for how to get his neighbor in trouble.
“Definitely show the cops that they stole your property — you have vet records and a microchip,” one recommended.
“Tell her if she takes your cat again you’ll call the cops,” another urged.
