Man surrenders in deadly Memorial Day weekend shooting at NYC birthday party: cops

A 23-year-old man surrendered to cops after he allegedly opened fire during a birthday party in Brooklyn over the weekend — killing a male relative and wounding a woman, police said Monday.

Geoliver Tineo turned himself in about four hours after the 9:30 p.m. Saturday shooting, and was charged Sunday with murder, attempted murder and criminal possession of a loaded firearm, cops said.

The violence began after Tineo showed up to the bash being held at the apartment of 33-year-old Delvin Diaz on Drew Street near Stanley Avenue in East New York, police said.

A heated clash erupted, either because Tineo – who is the nephew of Diaz’s sister-in-law – wasn’t supposed to be there, or because he brought an uninvited guest, cops said.

Tineo allegedly pulled out a gun and opened fire toward Diaz outside his building, hitting him multiple times, police said.

A 31-year-old woman was grazed in the head during the shooting, police said. It’s unclear whether she was an intended target, cops said.

Diaz was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, but could not be saved, police said.

The woman was taken to the same hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, cops said.

The shooting marked one of several reported in the Big Apple over the Memorial Day weekend.

Also on Saturday night, a 25-year-old man, Chevaughn Millings, was gunned down, allegedly by his own uncle, and a 20-year-old woman was shot and wounded outside their Queens home.

At least five people were also injured Sunday in separate shootings across the city, including a 14-year-old boy in Brooklyn and a 22-year-old woman in Staten Island.
