2 dead in crashes after driver slams into parked tractor trailer, motorcyclist loses control: cops

A speeding motorist on Staten Island died when his car slammed into a parked tractor trailer and a 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he crashed on the Long Island Expressway, police said.

The two deadly incidents occurred within minutes of each other on Saturday morning, police said.

On Staten Island, the unidentified victim was operating a gray Hyundai Elantra westbound in the vicinity of 315 Narrows Road North when “at a high rate of speed” he struck a parked, unoccupied tractor trailer, the NYPD said.

The truck was parked on the left shoulder of the roadway. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Less than 20 minutes later, around 4:35 a.m., the 22-year-old motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on the LIE at Queens Boulevard when he lost control and crashed. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene, police said.
