Jose Reyes has seen enough.
The former Mets All-Star shortstop tweeted out some feedback for Daniel Vogelbach, who struck out looking for the 15th time this season on Thursday night against the Cubs.
“I’m not sure if Vogey understands this concept but…” Reyes wrote on Twitter, “you have to SWING THE BAT to hit the ball…”
He added a facepalm emoji for good measure.
Making matters worse for the husky right-hander, he struck out again — looking, again — to end a three-run, two-out third-inning rally in Chicago.
Vogelbach’s struggles this season have been well documented, as the designated hitter entered Thursday’s game with a .229 batting average and just two hits in his previous 10 games.
His recent 2-for-22 stretch dropped his average from .270, while his OPS fell from .812 to .701.
Vogelbach, acquired at the 2022 trade deadline from the Pittsburgh Pirates, has heard the boos from Mets fans at Citi Field this season.
Manager Buck Showalter has yet lose faith in Vogelbach, even with prospect Mark Vientos pushing for more at-bats after a hot promotion following his hot start in Triple-A Syracuse.
“He’s hit some balls hard, but I would like to think he’s close,” Showalter said before Thursday’s game. “We know what he’s capable of, it just hasn’t happened consistently for him yet. But he’s hit some balls hard that they have caught, especially on the ground. He’s capable of getting the ball in the air a little bit. He hit a ball the other night that we thought it had a chance.”
