Ciara, Naomi Campbell and more mourn death of icon Tina Turner: ‘What a warrior’
The world stopped dancing and singing on May 24 it was confirmed that legendary music icon Tina Turner died.
The Queen of Rock and Roll passed away at the age of 83 at her home in Switzerland.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner,” a statement on her official Instagram account read.
“With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow.”
“Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly.”
Fans and celebs alike shared their condolences about her passing on social media Wednesday.
Singer Ciara wrote: “Heaven has gained an angel. Rest in Paradise Tina Turner. Thank you for the inspiration you gave us all.”

Model Naomi Campbell said she was thankful for her time spent with the singer, writing on Instagram: “REST in Peace & Power THE QUEEN, LEGEND, ICON. There will never be another. Cherish my times with you.”
“This woman elevated it all. Talent. Joy. Grace. Class. What a legend in every way. Her music lives on. Her lessons live on. Her example lives on,” Rita Wilson’s Instagram tribute read.

The “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll” died at 83 on Wednesday after a prolific career that spanned decades.
Tina — who was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist in 2021 — sold more than 100 million records worldwide throughout her career, with songs including the anthemic hit “The Best” and her solo comeback single “What’s Love Got to Do With It.”

She scored her first and only No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the song, which kicked off her 1980s career resurgence.
Tina was 44 at the time, making her the oldest solo female artist to top the Hot 100 chart.
The singer and actress had 12 total Grammy Awards, including eight competitive awards, three Grammy Hall of Fame awards and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Sportsman Magic Johnson even shared a throwback photo of himself with the “Proud Mary” singer and Elizabeth Taylor, saying: “Rest in peace to one of my favorite artists of all time, the legendary queen of rock n’ roll Tina Turner.
