14-year-old arrested in deadly NYC stabbing, cops say

A 14-year-old boy was arrested Friday for allegedly fatally stabbing a 36-year-old man on Staten Island, police and sources said.

The teen was charged with murder for allegedly knifing Jamel Carmona in chest at the Stapleton Houses at 75 Hill St. around 9 p.m. Wednesday night, the NYPD said.

The young suspect was identified through surveillance footage that captured part of the incident, Advance/SILive.com reported.

Carmona entered the building and approached the suspect and two began talking, the report said.

Their conversation turned physical, and the boy allegedly stabbed Carmona before fleeing.

Carmona, who did not live in the building, collapsed in a pool of blood in the second floor hallway, where he was found by police.

While police were initially called to the scene on suspicion of a gunshot injury, Carmona was found with a puncture wound to his upper left chest.

The weapon has not been recovered, Advance/SILive.com reported.
