Prince Andrew attends King Charles’ coronation — in garter robes

Scandal-scarred royal Prince Andrew has arrived at Westminster Abbey for the coronation service of his brother King Charles III – and raised eyebrows by donning traditional garter robes despite losing his status as a senior royal.

The embattled Duke of York, 63, will watch as Charles, 74, is formally crowned and anointed despite earlier speculation that he may be excluded due to his ties to pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Royal watchers were quick to point out Andrew’s elaborate velvet getup.

Earlier reporting suggested that, as a non-working royal and spectator in the ceremony, he would be reduced to wearing a morning suit like his estranged nephew, Prince Harry.

Andrew’s mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, infamously stripped her third child and rumored “favorite son” of his royal and military honors in 2022 amid his sex abuse case with Virginia Roberts Giuffre.

He was subsequently banned from wearing garter robes at her last Garter Day at Windsor Castle.

Some viewers were less than impressed by Andrew’s apparel.

“And Prince Andrew in ceremonial gear of the order of the Garter, which makes the Order now officially one of the paedophile orders,” one tweeted.

Another joked that the garter robes make wearers look “like pantomime dames.”

More recently, King Charles is said to be furious with Andrew as he reportedly refuses to vacate his $37 million digs at the Royal Lodge in Windsor.

Prince Andrew raised eyebrows by donning traditional garter robes despite losing his status as a senior royal.

“Andrew doesn’t want to leave because the property is seen as a symbol of senior royalty — an important property in the family’s portfolio,” a royal source said of the conflict.

“But [Prince William], who is the heir to the throne, has his eye on it.”

Andrew – who was second in line to the throne until Charles’ ex-wife, Princess Diana, gave birth to William in 1982 – is also allegedly fuming over the fact that he has not received a cut of his mother’s $782 million estate.

In a rare show of unity, however, he walked directly behind the King and Queen Consort at the royal family’s Easter outing last month.

Still notably absent at Saturday’s ceremony is Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, who previously confirmed that she was not invited.

“You can’t have it both ways. You mustn’t sit on the fence. You’re either in or out, but don’t muck around,” Ferguson – who separated from the playboy prince in 1992 after almost five years of marriage – explained on “Good Morning Britain” last month.

The former couple share two daughters – Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie – who arrived at the Abbey alongside Prince Harry.
