Will Levis’ first-round slide wasn’t the only dramatic moment of the 2023 NFL Draft.
As the former Kentucky quarterback continued his agonizing wait Thursday on the first night of the NFL draft in Kansas City, Levis and his loved ones took center stage in the coverage, girlfriend Gia Duddy in particular.
With the cameras focused on Duddy, 21, internet sleuths suggested she said she had to go to the bathroom while Levis, 23, waited for his phone to ring in the green room.
Not quite, according to Duddy, who shut down online lip-readers in a new TikTok video.
“So I know the lip-readers are going to be really mad about this one, but I hate to break it to y’all, I said, ‘Can that happen?’ Although I did have to pee the whole time, but I said, ‘Can that happen?'” she said in the clip.
Duddy, a budding influencer, was by Levis’ side throughout the weekend and celebrated when the quarterback was selected 33rd overall by the Titans on Day 2 of the NFL Draft.
Levis, who left Kansas City after the opening-round debacle, was home in Connecticut when Tennessee brass phoned him with the news.
“I knew I was going to cry,” Levis told local reporters afterward. “The tears came immediately. I didn’t really know how the conversation was going to go. It’s one of those things where you feel like you are going to handle yourself and be composed, but the waterworks started flowing and emotions got overwhelming.”
When Levis enters Titans training camp, he will be the third quarterback on the depth chart behind veteran Ryan Tannehill and second-year pro Malik Willis, who was taken in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Duddy, who has been dating Levis for more than two years, said Monday on Instagram she’s looking forward to the couple’s next adventure in Nashville.
“It’s hard to put in words what it’s like watching your best friend’s dreams come true. Proud would be an understatement— I don’t know anyone more deserving. Time to get back to work @will_levis . TITAN UP,” she captioned the heartfelt post.
