Eric Adams rips lefty pol Tiffany Cabán over ‘harmful’ and ‘wrong’ anti-cop message

Mayor Eric Adams took a swipe Tuesday at anti-cop lefty Queens lawmaker Tiffany Cabán, saying her rhetoric is “harmful to our children” and “wrong.”

The city councilwoman, a democratic socialist who represents Astoria, came under fire last week for sharing a pamphlet for kids that read, “All people can be hurt by police,’’ in July of 2020.

The post, one of many that disparage police on her platform, was brought to light when GOP rival Kelly Klingman shared a screenshot of it and asked, “District 22, is Cabán really who we want representing us?”

Adams, a former cop, was asked about his fellow Democrat’s stance on WABC’s “Sid & Friends in the Morning” radio show Tuesday.

Host Sid Rosenburg told the mayor he was tired of lawmakers “bad-mouthing police.”

“I agree 100%,” Adams said.

“You’re 100% correct, and when you think about some of the comments going after the men and women put their lives on the line,” he said, before sharing that he was raised to trust officers.

“For someone to take those who crossed the line and do what is wrong and give to their parents that the thousands of officers that are running towards violence to keep us safe are all bad people – that is just wrong. It’s the wrong thing to do.

“It’s the wrong seeds to plant in our children, and it could be actually harmful to our children as they grow up.”

The councilwoman shot back in a written statement to The Post, “There is nothing remotely controversial about saying that police aren’t nice to everyone.

“Every Black and Latine family in New York City knows about ‘The Talk.’ The Mayor himself has spoken compellingly about how police brutalized him in his youth, and he made a name for himself counseling young Black men on how to minimize the risk that they would suffer police violence.

“If I’m to be black listed for sharing a post to this effect, the Mayor will unfortunately have to black list himself as well.”

Adams has previously famously revealed that he was badly beaten by NYPD officers as a teen after being arrested for trespassing and said he eventually joined the force to try to enact social-justice reform.

Cabán, 35, was blasted for hypocrisy last year when her office notified the NYPD about a slew of threatening phone calls she had received – days after telling local merchants to call 311 instead of 911 for most public-safety concerns.

Constituents told The Post last week that Cabán and her staff are rarely available at her district office, which they say is sometimes closed for weeks at a time.
