NYC’s Solow family art gallery to finally welcome visitors in May

Ever since we first reported in January 2022 that the Solow family’s art gallery at 9 West 57th Street would finally be open to the public, we’ve been asked, “Yes, but when?”

After decades of the gallery being off-limits to the public, what’s now known as the Soloviev Foundation gallery on the tower’s ground floor will welcome its first public visitors in May.

“We are pleased to now make it part of the city’s vibrant visual arts scene,” said Soloviev Group chairman Stefan Soloviev in a statement.

Admission to the exhibition space for masterworks by the likes of Giacometti and Matisse will initially be through appointment-only tours, which can be booked at gallery@solovievfoundation.org

Hayden Soloviev, a son of Stefan, said there will initially be two escorted tours a month.

Soloviev Group is also working with architect Thomas Phifer to display more works in the future.

The tower, one of the city’s premier office locations, was developed by Stefan’s late father Sheldon Solow.
