Guardians vs. Red Sox prediction: Over is the bet to make

The Guardians and Red Sox will close out their weekend series Sunday at Fenway Park.

Logan Allen (1-0, 1.50 ERA) is projected to be on the mound for Cleveland, while Boston will counter with Chris Sale (1-2, 8.22 ERA).

Allen was sensational in his major league debut against the Marlins, striking out eight batters and allowing just one run over six innings.

The young lefty is in the rotation because of injuries, but he could stay there with another strong outing versus Boston.

Sale used to be one of the top pitchers in MLB, but he has fallen on hard times.

The veteran has allowed five or more runs in three of five starts this season.

The Red Sox are 3-2 in those games, but that’s mainly because of their offense.

Boston is averaging 6.4 runs per game with Sale on the hill.

Allen will be in for a tougher time in his second start.

The Marlins’ offense is atrocious, so even though Allen was impressive in his MLB debut, he faced the perfect opponent.

The Red Sox have hit lefties well this season, scoring an average of 5.4 runs over nine innings.

The bet I like here is the Over.

Games Sale starts are averaging 12 runs, and I expect the Red Sox’s lineup to get to Allen early.

Look for the trend of games being high-scoring with Sale on the mound to continue.

The play: Guardians-Red Sox Over 9.5 runs.
