Padres’ Fernando Tatis Jr. dances to hecklers’ ‘steroids’ chants during Cubs game

Fernando Tatis Jr. is hitting back at hecklers in a unique way.

During Tuesday’s game against the Chicago Cubs, the San Diego Padres shortstop was showered with “he’s on steroids” chants from the Wrigley Field crowd following his PED suspension last summer.

The 24-year-old Tatis was then seen dancing in the outfield in response to the merciless mocks.

The Padres were shut out by the Cubs on Tuesday, 6-0, in their first matchup of a three-game series.

San Diego is currently third in the NL West standings at 12-13.

Tatis returned to the majors earlier this month following an 80-game suspension for violating MLB’s PED policy.

At the time, Tatis had missed the entire 2022 season due to a fractured wrist.

“There is nowhere in the world I would rather be than on the field competing with my teammates. After initially appealing the suspension, I have realized that my mistake was the cause of this result, and for that reason I have decided to start serving my suspension immediately,” Tatis said in a statement in August.

“I look forward to rejoining my teammates on the field in 2023.”

Prior to his return, Tatis had been playing in minor league games.

He recently drew the ire of Giants prospect Kade McClure, who gave up a massive homer to Tatis then called him a “cheater” in a since-deleted tweet.

“Cheater hits a homerun on a rehab assignment during a steroid suspension,” McClure wrote in response to a tweet that read, “Kade McClure will be telling people for years about the time he gave up an absolute nuke to Fernando Tatis Jr.”

Tatis signed a 14-year, $330 million extension with the Padres in 2021.
