Man stabbed in 42nd Street-8th Ave subway station: NYPD

A man was stabbed on the mezzanine of the 42nd Street-Eighth Avenue subway station Saturday afternoon, police said.

The incident unfolded just before 4 p.m. when the victim, 36, was hurt by a woman he appeared to know who cut him with a sharp object, according to authorities.

An MTA worker who saw the victim said he was “writhing in pain.”

“I didn’t see it but when I came here this guy was on the floor,” the worker told The Post. “He was bleeding from his lower back. Whoever stabbed him in the back took away his ability to walk.”

“An officer was on top of him trying to stop the bleeding. He was just suffering on the floor,” the worker added.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he was expected to survive.

“It’s pretty crazy. … It puts me on edge a little bit,” he said.

The assailant ran, the NYPD said.

A large area of the busy station was cordoned off with police tape Saturday as officers stood guard, video posted to Twitter shows.
