Meet Charly Arnolt, ex-ESPN reporter and former WWE ring announcer

Sports media personality Charly Arnolt has made headlines this week for leaving ESPN to join OutKick.

She has had a decorated career in the sports media industry, working for WWE before her gig at ESPN.

Here’s what you should know about the 35-year-old sports broadcaster.

Who is Charly Arnolt?

Charly Arnolt is an Indianapolis native and began her journalism career with WSAZ-TV in West Virginia in 2010.

She entered the world of sports journalism in 2014 when she joined Indianapolis’ WXIN, an outlet she had previously freelanced for.

Her WWE career started in 2016 and lasted five years, during which she started as a ring announcer for WWE NXT under the name Charly Caruso.

She eventually moved on to a more mainstream role, interviewing WWE superstars and becoming a popular backstage interviewer.

She left the company in 2021 after deciding not to re-sign.

There was speculation that tensions built between her and WWE because she was late to interviews with Randy Orton and Sheamus. Arnolt, however, denied these rumors.

While working in the wrestling entertainment business, she also joined ESPN in 2018 for a part-time gig.

Arnolt appeared as a fill in host on “First Take” and eventually cemented a permanent role, joining the “First Take, Her Take” podcast and “SportsNation” amongst other shows on the ESPN+ streaming service.

She worked full-time with ESPN in 2022 and debuted as a fight interviewing for UFC in the Rafael dos Anjos vs. Rafael Fiziev fight on July 9, 2022.

Why did Charly Arnolt leave ESPN?

Arnold confirmed she was leaving ESPN this week due to feeling “stifled” by the company.

Following her departure announcement, Arnolt revealed part of the reason why she left the sports media powerhouse on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom” on Apr. 20, accusing ESPN of being contradictory with their politics policy when it came to topics like transgender athletes.

“ESPN has been very adamant about keeping politics out of their programming, yet you just saw, late last month, they did a whole tribute, during Women’s Month, for Lia Thomas,” Arnolt said. “Therefore, it doesn’t exactly seem like they are keeping politics completely out of the mix.”

She will be joining Fox Corp’s sports media company OutKick.

As a “very opinionated person,” Arnold felt restricted at ESPN, but at her new job, she sees much more freedom.

“And it made me feel very uncomfortable, because I wasn’t true to myself. Then there’s a place like OutKick, where the idea of cancel culture doesn’t exist. You have someone like Clay Travis who really stands behind everyone who works at the company and says, ‘You can say whatever you want as long as you are convicted in what you’re saying and you really believe in it you have nothing to worry about.’”

What is Charly Arnolt’s Instagram?

Her Instagram is charlyontv where she posts everything from pictures at work, selfies and reels.

Arnolt is also very active on Twitter and TikTok @CharlyonTV.
