Brian Walshe indicted for murder of missing wife Ana Walshe, whom he allegedly dismembered

Massachusetts father Brian Walshe was indicted for the murder of his missing wife Ana, prosecutors announced Thursday.

A Norfolk County grand jury indicted Walshe for first-degree murder, obstruction of justice, and other charges, the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office said, according to reports.

He could face life in prison if convicted.

He pleaded not guilty in Quincy District Court when he was charged with murder during a January arraignment, but the indictment now moves the case to Norfolk Superior Court where he will be arraigned in the coming weeks, the district attorney’s office said according to the Boston Herald.

Walshe, 48, is accused of killing his 39-year-old wife, who vanished from her Cohasset home on Jan. 1 where she lived with her husband and three young children.

Authorities said they believe that he killed and dismembered her in their basement and then bagged up the remains that were tossed in a dumpster before it was incinerated by trash services.

He was charged with murder in mid-January. Before that murder charge, he was already in custody over charges of hindering the police probe into his wife.

Prosecutors alleged that Walshe looked up online how to cut up and dispose of a body on Jan. 1 and the ensuing days.  Her body has never been found.

Investigators found surveillance video of a man that looked like Walshe dumping what appeared to be heavy trash bags in a dumpster at an apartment complex in a town near Cohasset.

Police tried to find those bags, but they were already taken to an incinerator, prosecutors said.

He previously told police he last saw his wife alive in the early hours of New Year’s Day when he claimed she took off for a “work emergency.”

She was reported missing on Jan. 4 by her employer based in DC where she often commuted during the week for work.

His lawyer previously said in January, “I intend to win this case in court.”
