Derek Jeter is showing some “love” to the tabloids — seriously.
Appearing this week on “The Eli Manning Show,” the Yankees legend spoke about wanting to minimize distractions during his playing days by giving little oxygen to certain stories.
“A lot of times you’ve got to bite your tongue on a daily basis,” the 48-year-old Jeter said. “With New York, I always felt as though you want to try to limit the distractions, and if you keep adding to a story it just becomes a distraction for a long period of time. So you address something once — I think there’s a lot of times people have stories out there you know are untrue, but if you do address it then it just continues to go.
“So I think, yeah, you have to bite your tongue in those situations. And then also, you were married younger than I was, so gossip pages know quite a bit on that.”
Manning, 41, then quipped to Jeter, “You don’t miss Page Six?” to which the now-married father of three elaborated on The Post’s own.
“I will never say anything bad about the gossip pages, ever. Just on record, I did not say a bad thing about Page Six or the gossip pages. I love all you guys. But yeah, anytime there’s something about your private life that’s not true, you’ve gotta bite your tongue,” Jeter said.
Though there was plenty of speculation about Jeter’s personal life during his playing days, nowadays, the retired Yankees captain has been enjoying family time with his model wife, Hannah, 32, and their three daughters. What’s more, the usually private Jeter even took the social media plunge, this past spring, joining both Instagram and Twitter.
With more than 450,000 Instagram followers and counting, Jeter frequently gives fans a peek at dad life, including an adorable moment in August when his two eldest daughters, Bella Raine, 5, and Story Grey, 3, attempted to give him a manicure.
“HELP!!!” Jeter captioned playfully captioned the post.
Jeter and Hannah have been married since 2016 and quietly welcomed their third daughter, River Rose, last December.
