I’m deformed after botched knock-off fillers: ‘I just want my face back’

An influencer has shared the harrowing tale of her botched cosmetic procedure, which left her with scars.

Marian Michelini was left heartbroken and deformed following a facial harmonization procedure, which uses Botox and hyaluronic acid fillers to modify the face.

Startling before and after photos show the 34-year-old’s swollen features as a result of the botched, non-surgical procedure performed by a dental professional in Matao, Brazil, in 2020.

“My life has stopped, I’m psychologically broken. I just want my face back,” she told Newsflash. “I’m suffering a lot, but I have faith that justice will be served, I don’t want other people to go through this.”

She originally agreed to the procedure in exchange for her advertising the dental professional on her social media accounts, which would reach her 15,000 Instagram followers.

Under the impression her fillers were hyaluronic acid, a dermatologist proved otherwise. In June, they found that the young influencer’s face had been injected with polymethyl methacrylate, which has been linked to inflammation and other complications.

Michelini is allegedly suing the person who gave her the botched procedure. The professional responsible for the bad job is also filing lawsuits against Michelini: one to prohibit their identity and practice name from being disclosed and another for defamation.

But the now-botched influencer believes she can prove she was injected with PMMA instead of hyaluronic acid as she was told. She plans to prove that the procedure negatively altered her features, finances, and mental health and is now reportedly receiving treatment to fix the botched fillers.

It’s not uncommon for botched procedures to occur, but Michelini was promised a different kind of filler than the one she received. Newsflash

With any facial injections, there comes a risk. While it depends on the type being used, fillers can cause asymmetry, bleeding, bruising, damage to the skin, infection, lumps, rashes and swelling.

Botched procedures have been known to have similar complications of swelling, bruising and even the occasional allergic reaction. Some people have even experienced life-threatening reactions, like one woman whose fillers were accidentally injected into a blood vessel.
