Joe Harris set for long-awaited Nets return Friday against Raptors

The Nets should get one reinforcement back in their rotation for the second game of the season.

Joe Harris, who missed Wednesday’s season-opening loss to the Pelicans due to foot soreness, has been listed as probable for the game against the Raptors at Barclays Center.

Seth Curry (left ankle) and T.J. Warren (left foot) remain out for the Nets, according to the team’s injury report.

Harris, second among active NBA players behind Curry in 3-point percentage, hasn’t played since Nov. 14 of last season following multiple ankle surgeries. Newly acquired Royce O’Neale started in Harris’ customary wing spot in Wednesday’s 130-108 loss to New Orleans, finishing the game with 10 points on 4-for-7 shooting with seven rebounds in 34 minutes.

Ben Simmons endured a quiet Nets debut, finishing with four points (2-for-3), five assists and five rebounds in 23 minutes before fouling out in the fourth quarter. Kevin Durant said the Nets will continue supporting the three-time All-Star, who sat out all of last season with the 76ers and Nets with mental-health issues and a back injury.

“Just keep encouraging him, keep being good teammates. Pretty simple,” Durant said. “He’s a veteran. We have a long season ahead. We have 81 more of these. There’s going to be plenty of other games. We all don’t have great games. That’s just the nature of our job. But it’s about just bouncing back and coming to work [the next day] and figuring it out.”

Edmond Sumner had six points with three assists in 19 minutes in his first NBA appearance since undergoing Achilles surgery while with the Pacers in Sept. 2021…Yuta Watanabe played nine minutes but did not score in his Nets debut.

Otto Porter Jr. (hamstring) is out for the Raptors, who won their opener Wednesday over Cleveland behind 23 points and 11 rebounds from Pascal Siakam.
