Bailey Zappe’s agent calls out NFL critics as Patriots QB continues to shine

Bailey Zappe’s fast start in New England may have come as a shock to the NFL community, but not to the Patriots and his agent, Nicole Lynn.

Taking to Twitter on Monday, one day after Zappe threw for 309 yards and two touchdowns and the Patriots demolished the Browns, 38-15, Lynn called out the rookie quarterback’s naysayers.

“Trying to restrain myself from texting every team who told me Bailey Zappe couldn’t play in the NFL,” she tweeted.

Zappe, a fourth-round pick out of Western Kentucky in the 2022 NFL Draft, has continued to thrive since taking over the Patriots’ offense with starter Mac Jones injured. Through three games, Zappe has thrown for four touchdowns against one interception.

Lynn, whose extensive client list also boasts Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, was present for Zappe’s first career start earlier this month, when he and the Patriots shut out the Lions, 29-0.

“Had a blast at the Patriots v Lions game getting to hang with my guys. Special shout-out to Bailey Zappe for getting his first NFL start (and winning!),” she posted on Instagram.

The 23-year-old Zappe went on to make NFL history this Sunday, when he became the first rookie quarterback to win his first two starts and record a passer rating of 100 or better in both games in the Super Bowl era, according to NBC Sports.

Zappe said postgame Sunday he’s appreciative of his teammates and personnel for helping him come into his own these past few weeks.

“They have definitely supported me. I ask a lot of questions on the sidelines and they keep me calm on the field. When you have guys like we have on the offensive side, it is very easy,” he said.

Although Zappe’s stock is on the rise in New England, where the Patriots are now 3-3, a new report has alleged there’s discord between the team and Jones, who suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 3.

It remains to be seen who will start for the Patriots next week, when they host the Bears on “Monday Night Football.”

“We’ll see how that process is,” Belichick said of the quarterback situation on Monday. “Mac still wasn’t able to play (Sunday). So we’ll continue to evaluate him and see how he’s doing physically.”
