Phillies’ J.T. Realmuto hits inside-the-park home run versus Braves in NLDS

The NLDS between the Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves has taken another wild turn.

Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto hit an inside-the-park home run to center field against Braves pitcher Collin McHugh in the bottom of the third inning to put the Phillies up 4-1 at the time in Game 4 at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday.

The ball went over the head of center fielder Michael Harris II, and abruptly bounced off the wall. While Harris scurried to field it, the speedy Realmuto was hustling towards third base and prepared to dash home. Realmuto now has hit his first home run this October, and became the first catcher to hit an inside-the-park home run in postseason history.

The Phillies jumped ahead early when outfielder Brandon Marsh bashed a three-run home run off of Charlie Morton to give his team an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second.

Atlanta, which is on the bring of elimination, struck back with an Orlando Arcia home run in the third before Realmuto’s electric score extended Philly’s advantage. Matt Olsen homer in the fourth for the defending World Series champions to close the gap to 4-2.
