Shopper begs for action after snapping photos of ‘pigeon droppings’ at supermarket

A man has begged for one supermarket giant to do better after claiming there were pigeon droppings throughout his local store.

The man snapped photos of pigeons in the rafters and what appeared to be droppings on top of a meat counter at Coles Top Ryde, Sydney, on Sunday.

He claimed multiple pigeons also sat above the bakery in the store.

The man called the situation “unhygienic” and begged for something to be done.

“Coles please take care of the in-store pigeons in the Top Ryde store,” he wrote on the store’s Facebook page, alongside the images.

“It is most unhygienic particularly with all the droppings on the meat cabinets and on aircon vents above the bakery.”

The man later told Yahoo that it had been an ongoing problem at the store, with at least three pigeons regularly in the store.

A Coles spokesperson responded to the images, saying the problem would be addressed.

“Coles has an integrated pest management system, which primarily focuses on keeping pests out of our stores, then controlling pests should they find their way into our stores,” the spokesperson told news.com.au.

“We were concerned to see these images and have reached out to the store so we can address the issue.”
