Woman releases ‘hurricane ball’ during Hurricane Ian

While many Florida residents sought shelter as Category 4 Hurricane Ian made landfall Wednesday, one woman decided to release an inflatable ball during the raging storm.

The woman — known as Megan.Jones.420 on TikTok — posted the video which has since gained nearly 7.3 million views amid the storm’s destruction.

“Duet if you find the ball, started in Arcadia, Florida,” Jones said in the video.

In the video, Jones included her TikTok username as well as her Instagram handle before releasing the ball into the storm.

“Hurricaneball” is supposedly a common game played by those in hurricane-affected regions.

Several users bounced their own comments and feelings around.

“Should of put an apple AirTag inside,” joked one user.

“Trusting the TikTok brings me back in the next couple days, weeks, months,” another stated.

At least three people said they found the ball, or another one that resembles it, in their hometowns, too.

The Post reached out to Jones for comment.

Other people chided Jones for adding to the debris left behind from the storm.

“Pollution but … fun,” said one snarky user.

“Cool idea but yall really think all the debris wouldn’t be enough plastic in our gulf,” stated another. The TikToker fired back, saying, “Cool thought but I pick up every piece of trash I walk by so it will buff out.”

“What if that just nailed someone right in the face,” questioned a third person to which the video poster said, “Well if the wind is blowing hard enough for that then they should be inside.”
