Trump says report about FBI agent proves 2020 election was ‘tainted’

Former President Donald Trump pointed to an FBI agent who reportedly resigned amid accusations he undermined the criminal investigation into Hunter Biden’s laptop as proof the last presidential election was “IRREPARABLY TAINTED” and demanded that he be declared the “rightful winner.”

Timothy Thibault, a top FBI assistant special agent in charge, was reportedly forced out of his post in the Washington field office last week as he came under congressional scrutiny for political bias in the handling of the first son’s laptop.

The info was discovered in documents and emails found on the hard drive of a laptop Hunter Biden left behind at a repair shop.

The computer’s hard drive formed the basis of The Post’s blockbuster scoops in October 2020.

Trump, who is being investigated by the FBI for storing classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, weighed in on the development early Tuesday.

“The Presidential Election was BADLY & IRREPARABLY TAINTED by the FBI’s FAKE description of the ’Laptop from Hell’ to Facebook & the LameStream Media – & for MANY other reasons as well,” he said in a posting on Truth Social.

He also reiterated claims he made on Monday that if the Hunter Biden story had not been suppressed, he would have defeated former Vice President Joe Biden in 2020.

“Declare the rightful winner, or hold a new Election, NOW! Our Country, which is failing badly, knows the ’score,’ and will never accept Criminal Election Interference. The FBI just fired its Special Agent In Charge of this outrageous & very illegal assault on the Constitution of the United States of America!,” the 45th president said on his social media site.

Trump’s Monday posting, which users of the site call “Truths,” was related to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s revelations last week to podcaster Joe Rogan that the FBI warned him that the series of reports about Hunter Biden’s overseas business dealings could be Russian propaganda.

“This is massive FRAUD & ELECTION INTERFERENCE at a level never seen before in our Country,” the former president said, adding the “REMEDY” is to declare him the winner or hold another election.

Thibault, a 25-year FBI veteran, was escorted from the bureau last Friday by a number of “headquarters-looking types,” the Washington Times reported on Monday.

The report noted that it wasn’t clear whether he was forced out or stepped down.

The FBI did not immediately return a request for comment.

The Post scooped other outlets about Hunter Biden’s missing laptop.

Thibault, who had been on leave for the past month, came under scrutiny for political statements he allegedly made while heading up the public corruption unit.

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, began focusing on Thibault over whistleblower accusations that he obstructed the probe into Hunter Biden.

Grassley wrote to FBI Director Christopher Wray in July about a scheme to “undermine derogatory information connected to Hunter Biden by falsely suggesting it was disinformation.”

He also said Thibault allegedly tried to scuttle an investigation into Hunter Biden’s criminality a month before the November 2020 election.

“Thibault allegedly ordered the matter closed without providing a valid reason as required by FBI guidelines … [and] subsequently attempted to improperly mark the matter in FBI systems so that it could not be opened in the future,” Grassley wrote.

The Post in the series of exposes a month before laid out Hunter Biden’s extensive business operations in Ukraine and China during the years his father was serving as vice president in the Obama administration.
