Three Jets things to watch for in preseason finale vs. Giants

Three Jets things to watch for in their preseason-finale battle vs. the Giants:

Mims the word

Denzel Mims requested a trade on Thursday. This will be a chance for him to showcase his skills for any possible suitors. Coach Robert Saleh said Mims will play in the game, and the Jets surely will give him some chances to show what he can do.

New line

The offensive line has gotten very little time to work together with Duane Brown signing during camp to replace the injured Mekhi Becton. This will be their first preseason action together. This group plays a critical role in the Jets’ early success this season if Joe Flacco is at quarterback. Flacco is not a scrambler and will need time to operate.

Laying down the Lawson

Carl Lawson is expected to play Sunday. The key word is expected. He was expected to play in Week 1 of the preseason against the Eagles, but Saleh changed his mind at the last minute. Lawson has not played in a game since last preseason when he played a few snaps against the Giants before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury a few days later in practice. Lawson could use the preseason action to clear that mental hurdle of playing in a game before the regular season arrives. — Brian Costello
