Plenty of momentum for L.A.
The Dodgers appear to be on a mission, going 9-3 since the All-Star break and 22-5 since the calendar flipped to July. The offense is back on track since a June lull and the club will have its top starter on the mound Tuesday.
L.A. left-hander Tyler Anderson didn’t even start the season in the rotation, but has turned into the team’s most dependable arm. Anderson has allowed one earned run or less in four of his last five starts and has given up zero in each of his last three outings.
When the Dodgers lost all three games at San Francisco in a June series they were in a 4-9 downturn. They have just 10 loses since over a stretch of 42 games. The only weakness: The back end of the bullpen is dealing with injuries and Craig Kimbrel’s struggles.

Expect to see some runs
When the Dodgers and Giants met a week and a half ago in L.A., they averaged 9.5 runs per game over a four-game series. The teams followed that by scoring 10 combined runs Monday in the Dodgers’ 8-2 victory. Finding the scoreboard has not been an issue.
So while Anderson has been holding Dodgers opponents in check of late, these are two of the top eight run-scoring offenses in baseball. The Dodgers are No. 2 with 534 runs and are averaging 6.17 runs per game since the All-Star break.
Less reliant on home runs earlier in the season, the Dodgers are climbing the long-ball charts with 132 on the season, which is tied for fifth in the major leagues. The latest Dodgers to go deep were Max Muncy and Trea Turner on Monday.

Mookie Betts, Turner and Freddie Freeman all have been pulling their weight at the top of the Dodgers’ order, showing exactly why all three were All-Stars. With an offense now in sync, the Dodgers have been pushing the Yankees for the best record in baseball.
After injury issues in June, Betts had an .820 OPS with six home runs in July. Turner enters on a 19-game hitting streak and is the only MLB player with two streaks of 15 games or more. And Freeman has three homers vs. the Giants this year and 14 in his career.
The remainder of the lineup is nearly as potent. Will Smith had two hits and two RBIs on Monday and the Dodgers are 38-12 when he bats cleanup. Gavin Lux is 11th in the NL with a .295 batting average, while James Outman already has five hits after making his debut Sunday.
