A look at the tension and history that fuels the renewed Mets-Braves rivalry, from both sides

Mets-Braves was a premier National League rivalry in the 1990s and early 2000s, but it faded for most of the last decade.

The past two seasons have seen the duel reborn as the two franchises again fight for the NL East title. Beginning next Thursday the Mets and Braves will play five games over four days at Citi Field with the division lead potentially at stake.

Jeff Francoeur has seen the rivalry from both sides: The Georgia native played for the Braves from 2005-09 (and again in his final season in 2016) and for the Mets from 2009-10.
