Cowboys’ Kelvin Joseph cleared of wrongdoing in murder investigation

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Kelvin Joseph has been cleared of any wrongdoing in a murder investigation from a March drive-by shooting, the team’s official website reported Sunday.

He is expected to be available for the start of Cowboys training camp on Monday.

“Thank God you always have the last word,” Joseph tweeted Sunday, rejoicing the news.

Joseph, 22, had been riding in a vehicle from which gunshots were fired, killing 20-year-old Cameron Ray outside the OT Tavern in East Dallas, Texas. The Dallas police department brought Joseph in for questioning in April, with Joseph fully cooperating in the process.

Aries Jones, 28, and Tivione English, 21, are currently in jail on murder charges for their roles in the shooting.

Surveillance footage identified Joseph via a necklace with the engraving “YKDV,” an indication of Joseph’s rapper pseudonym, “YKDV Bossman Fat.”

Despite the legal clearing, Joseph can still face discipline from the NFL, should the league find he violated its personal conduct policy. Yahoo Sports reported the NFL is “still monitoring” Joseph’s legal cooperation.

Joseph, a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, appeared in 10 games last season as a rookie. He is expected to have a greater role in Dallas’s secondary in 2022.
