Open Championship picks: Will Zalatoris will win first major

Post golf expert Mark Cannizzaro makes his picks for the 150th Open Championship being held at the the Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland:

Will Zalatoris

He’s played in eight majors and finished runner-up three times, including in the past two majors, the PGA and U.S. Open. And along the way, he’s had an amazing attitude about it. Zalatoris, too, is totally embracing the majesty of the week, even popping into the iconic pub the Dunvagen, which stands right behind the 18th green, for a pint. This week is finally his time.

Jordan Spieth

The 2017 Open winner at Royal Birkdale has been in good form of late, already has a Claret Jug on his résumé and is one of the most creative feel players in the game, which should be a good fit for the quirks of the Old Course.

Rory McIlroy

He figures to be in the mix because he’s in good form and also has won an Open, but will fall just short this week.

Xander Schauffele

He’s won his last two starts, the Travelers and last week’s Scottish Open, so no one is in better form at the moment. Can he win three in a row? Quite possibly.

Adam Scott

I’ve had a good feeling about the 41-year-old Aussie this week. Just a feeling.
