Kate Moss denies being thrown down stairs by Johnny Depp

FAIRFAX, Va. — Kate Moss categorically denied that her ex-boyfriend Johnny Depp had ever thrown or pushed her down stairs during their relationship, while appearing on the witness stand Wednesday via videoconference.

Moss, 48, was called as a rebuttal witness for Depp, 58, during his $50 million defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard, now in its sixth and final week in Fairfax County Circuit Court in Virginia.

“He never pushed me, kicked me, or threw me down any stairs,” Moss, looking elegant in a white pussybow blouse and black blazer, said with a smirk.

The British supermodel rebutted previous testimony from Heard that appeared to reference a rumor that Depp had pushed Moss down a set of stairs when the two were dating in the 1990s.

Speaking from Gloucester, England, Moss recounted for the jurors how she had been leaving her hotel room at the Golden Eye resort in Jamaica during a rainstorm when she fell down a flight of stairs and suffered an injury.

“Johnny had left the room before I did, and there had been a rainstorm. And as I left the room, I slid down the stairs and hurt my back,” she said.

“I screamed because I didn’t know what happened to me and I was in pain,” Moss testified. “And [Depp] came running back to help me and carried me to my room and got me medical attention.”

Depp’s attorney Ben Chew asked the witness: “Did Mr. Depp push you in any way down the stairs?”

“No,” Moss replied.

The high-profile witness was let go after only a couple of minutes without being subjected to cross-examination by Heard’s legal team.

A source close to Depp told The Post Wednesday: “The stairs accident was just that — an accident — when she slipped on stairs while [it was] raining and Mr. Depp immediately tended to her and sought out medical attention for her.”

Heard’s team, though, was apparently not impressed with Moss’ testimony, with a source close to the actress telling The Post in a statement: “So Johnny Depp didn’t abuse Kate Moss. That makes him 1 for 2 in the abuse column.

“But, to date, he’s 0 for 1 in the courtroom on the central issue in this case back when he lost the same exact case in England. And when the jury deliberates over the singular issue in this case — whether Amber Heard can exercise her right of Freedom of Speech — he’ll be 0 for 2, no matter how much his lawyers try to distract and divert the jury’s attention.”

Moss was 20 years old when she met Depp, who was then 31. The famous duo dated each other between 1994 and 1997, before the “Edward Scissorhands” broke up with the fashion icon and moved on to French actress Vanessa Paradis, the future mother of his two children, Lily-Rose and Jack.

Despite the split, which Moss described in a 2012 Vanity Fair profile as a “nightmare” followed by “years and years of crying,” she has remained staunchly supportive of her ex.

“There’s nobody that’s ever really been able to take care of me. Johnny did for a bit,” Moss told the magazine.

Heard, 36, brought up Moss in her May 5 testimony, recounting a March 2015 fight in which she punched Depp in the face out of fear he was going to shove her sister, Whitney Henriquez, down a staircase.

The “Aquaman” actress said she “instantly” thought about “Kate Moss and the stairs” — prompting Depp lawyer Ben Chew to turn and fist-pump.

A source close to Depp told The Post at the time: “Amber mentioned an ex of Johnny’s that clearly she felt was not supportive of him, which couldn’t be further from the truth.”

During Depp’s 2020 UK trial against Britain’s Sun, Heard alleged that her ex-husband had once shoved Moss down a flight of stairs.

Describing the same fight involving her sister, Heard told the British court at the time: “I remembered information I had heard [that] he pushed a former girlfriend — I believe it was Kate Moss — down the stairs. I had heard this rumor from two people and it was fresh in my mind.”

Depp sued the Sun over an article that branded him a “wife beater.” He lost the case after the UK high court substantiated the majority of Heard’s allegations of abuse.
