NYC cops hurt chasing down suspected car-part thieves, sources say

Four NYPD cops were hurt when a pair of suspected car-part thieves slammed into their cruiser during a chase in Upper Manhattan early Friday, according to police sources.

Officers were searching for unspecified robbery suspects at Dyckman Street and Nagle Avenue in Inwood around 5:30 a.m. when they spotted four people trying to steal catalytic converters, the sources said.

Two of the suspects took off in a black Mercedes-Benz, the sources said.

But the other two hopped into a white Mercedes and used it to ram into three marked police cars, the sources said.

Police officials confirmed four officers were hurt during a vehicle pursuit, and taken to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital with minor injuries to their shoulders and backs. They were treated and released, authorities said.

Cops could not immediately confirm the details of the pursuit and how the officers were hurt.
