Cops investigating ‘suspicious package’ near Central Park in NYC

The NYPD was investigating a suspicious package that was spotted outside Central Park on the Upper East Side Thursday morning, police said.

The “unattended plastic, black box” that was “shoebox-size and chained to a fence” was found on Fifth Avenue and East 85th Street around 8:15 a.m., a police source said.

The NYPD’s Bomb Squad was investigating, cops said.

Fifth Avenue was temporarily closed from East 86th Street to East 85th Street, police said.
