DeVonta Smith identified as ‘former Philadelphia Eagle’ on jumbotron during 76ers game

The Philadelphia Eagles’ star wide receiver DeVonta Smith witnessed a major fumble during Sunday’s 76er’s playoff game.

The 23-year-old Eagle was sitting courtside at the Sixers playoff game on Monday against the Miami Heat when a jumbotron video mislabeled him as a former member of the team.

Don’t worry Eagles fans, Smith is still on the roster for the 2022 season.

The jumbo-sized blunder was caught by an NBC Sports Philadelphia journalist, who tweeted out a photo of the bewildered star.

The record-setting rookie later joked that he “got fired on his day off” on Twitter.

As a student athlete at Alabama, Smith won the 2020 Heisman Trophy – the first wide receiver to do so since Desmond Howard in 1991. He the went on to lead Alabama to a national championship win after an undefeated season.

Smith was drafted by the Eagles in 2021 as the 10th overall pick. He ran for a record-setting 916 receiving yards in his rookie season, setting a Philadelphia record.
