Man shot outside NYC school for autistic students

A man was shot outside a school for autistic students in Staten Island on Monday afternoon, police said.
The gunfire broke out around 3:15 p.m. on Beach Street around Union Place near the entrance to Eden II, a private school that caters to children and young adults with autism, authorities said.

The 26-year-old victim was shot in the chest and taken to Richmond University Medical Center, where he was in critical condition, cops said.
The shooter took off in a car, according to cops, who didn’t have a solid description of the vehicle.
