Dwayne Haskins struck by two vehicles, according to investigators

Investigators believe Dwayne Haskins was struck by two vehicles in a fatal accident earlier this month, TMZ reported Wednesday, citing a crash report.

Investigators say a Subaru Outback “partially” hit the body of the Steelers quarterback after he was struck by a dump truck while walking on a South Florida highway shortly after 6:30 a.m. April 9, per Florida Highway Patrol documents obtained by TMZ.

A witness is also said to have told investigators that a third vehicle might have been involved, according to the documents. A final traffic homicide investigation is pending, however.

The officials did not share in the documents why they thought Haskins was walking on the highway, per TMZ.

However, earlier in the day Wednesday, new audio was released of the concerning 911 call that Haskins’ wife, Kalabrya, made on the morning of his death. During the call, which was obtained by South Florida Fox Sports host Andy Slater, she can be heard informing the dispatcher that her husband had phoned her from the side of the road near I-95 and that he had been in search of gas.

Last week, Haskins’ wife released a statement in the wake of her husband’s death, thanking supporters following the heartbreaking tragedy.

“I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to every loving soul who has supported our family during this arduous time of loss. The overwhelming thoughts and prayers have been fuel for our emotional depletion. All of your blessings have been greatly valued and appreciated,” she said Wednesday in a statement posted on the Steelers’ website.

“The meaningful touches and impact Dwayne made as a husband, son, brother, teammate and friend is a timeless treasure imbrued in our hearts. I am truly grateful to everyone who has been by our side as we mourn his untimely passing. Our family implores for your continued prayers, yet continued respectful privacy as we painfully grieve.”

The couple had been married since March 2021.
