Boxer Amir Khan ‘shocked’ after gunpoint robbery with wife in London

British boxer Amir Khan was robbed at gunpoint in central London while out with his wife.

The former world champ said he was confronted by two men, one of whom ordered him to hand over his watch.

Sharing details of the terrifying ordeal on Twitter, Khan added that both he and his wife, Faryal Makhdoom, were luckily unharmed.

“Just had my watch taken off me at gunpoint in east London, Leyton,” the 2008 Olympic silver medalist wrote Monday night.

“I crossed the road with Faryal, luckily she was a few steps behind me. Two men ran to me, he asked for my watch whilst having a gun pointed in my face.”

Khan and his wife, who have been married since 2013, were left “shocked” by the attack, his rep Martin O’Shea exclusively told The Post.

“The main thing is we’re both safe,” Khan added on Twitter.

Hours before the attack, Khan was pictured with a fan while shopping in central London wearing his pricy watch, which is worth around $94,000 and is encrusted with 719 diamonds.

The athlete, who has his own namesake charity foundation, was also wearing the watch in an Instagram post from a fundraising event the night before – sparking concerns he may have been targeted.

“He had been visible on social media through the day wearing the watch,” O’Shea said, adding that Khan thinks the attack “was planned after those posts.”

Following the incident, Khan is now looking to join forces with the Metropolitan Police to help put an end to armed robberies in London.

Khan and his wife, who was born in Brooklyn, want to “help stop this kind of extremely frightening armed robbery happening to others in whatever way they can,” O’Shea told The Post.

The pair are also appealing for the public’s help in identifying those involved.

The Metropolitan Police are investigating after being called to the incident in Leyton on Monday night.

“A man aged in his 30s is alleged to have been approached by two males who threatened him with a firearm before stealing his watch and fleeing,” told The Post in a statement.

Police said there were “no reports of any shots fired or any injuries.”

No arrests have been made as of yet. The investigation is ongoing.

Over on his Instagram Story, Khan admitted that it now “feels a bit weird not wearing a watch.”

“Couldn’t sleep last night. Last night was a bit mad, but I’m glad everyone is safe,” he added.

While this is the first time Khan has been a victim of an attack in London, he’s been on the receiving end of armed robberies in the UK before.

In 2017, the boxer was ambushed by an armed gang that reportedly tried to steal his $130,000 Range Rover in Manchester, The Sun reported at the time.

According to the publication, Khan was attacked during a road rage incident after being chased through the streets by a group of men.

The boxer called the cops after another vehicle crashed into his Range Rover.

The altercation got physical when several men jumped out of another car and threw punches at Khan during the confrontation. However, no arrests were made.

Khan also was the victim of another attempted robbery in 2012 when he was targeted by a six-strong gang who tried to steal his car in Birmingham, as per The Guardian.

A witness told The Sun newspaper at the time: “These guys tried to jump Amir and his brother but they picked on the wrong blokes.”
