‘Goonies’ gang member sentenced in killing of teen hit by stray bullet

A member of the “Goonies” street gang was sentenced for his role in the death of a Westchester County teenager killed during a botched hit on a rival, federal prosecutors said.

Sincere Savoy, 25, was slapped with a 22-year-sentence in the 2016 death of Shamoya McKenzie – a 13-year-old Mount Vernon girl who was hit with a stray bullet while she was a passenger in her mother’s car, the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York announced.

Savoy is the fourth Goonies member to be sentenced related to Shamoya’s death on New Year’s Eve 2016.

Prosecutors said the four gang members tried to kill a rival during a broad daylight attack on Tecumseh Avenue and Third Street in Mount Vernon. The wounded rival – but a bullet intended for him hit Shamoya as her mother’s car passed by, prosecutors said.

The Goonies were expanding a racketeering enterprise by using threats of violence and conspiring to sell narcotics, prosecutors alleged. Their rival gangs in Mount Vernon included the “Boss Playa Family,” Get Money Gangstas,” “Gunnas” and the “Much Better Gang,” according to the attorney’s office.

The three other Goonies members sentenced last year received longer sentences than Savoy.

David Hardy, 27, was sentenced to 31 years behind bars for McKenzie’s death, racketeering and a separate Goonies-related shooting in 2012.

Savoy, who was sentenced Tuesday, had pleaded guilty to using a firearm in aid of racketeering, prosecutors said.
