NYC weather to see warm temperatures, gale-force winds
The groundhog may have been wrong this year — at least for New York City.
The temperature will get unseasonably warm with a high of 62 degrees on Thursday — approaching the record of 67 degrees set in the winter of 1976, according to AccuWeather.
The Big Apple will experience strong winds later in the day, with some gusts approaching 32 mph. Gale warnings have been issued for most of the Eastern Seaboard as well.

On Friday, the warm weather will continue with highs of 56 degrees, before dropping back down to the low 40s and high 30s for the weekend.
Elsewhere in the state, Mother Nature isn’t being so kind.
A winter weather advisory has been put in place for a number of counties upstate, including the cities of Buffalo and Rochester. Freezing rain and sleet are making their way east from Michigan, and could impact travel across the region. Some regions, including Erie County, can expect up to 4 inches of snow and wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour.

Strong winds could create even more chaos in other parts of the country. Severe thunderstorms are expected to threaten much of the South, including large areas of Alabama and Tennessee. Tornados and flash floods remain a threat to these areas as well, according to Weather.com.
