Broncos fans make their Aaron Rodgers feelings known at Phoenix Open

Broncos fans are certainly wearing their hearts on their sleeves.

While golfing Wednesday in a pro-am ahead of the WM Phoenix Open in Arizona, Aaron Rodgers was greeted with cheers from the crowd, with some fans appearing to exclaim, “Come to Denver!”

Rodgers, who recently wrapped his 17th season in Green Bay after a shocking Divisional Round playoff exit, is said to have responded, “We’ll see,” per Broncos beat reporter Zac Stevens.

The future of the league’s reigning MVP has been a giant question mark since the Packers were bounced from the playoffs by the 49ers last month. During a recent appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers said, “everything is definitely on the table,” in terms of what may come next – whether that be retirement, a Packers return or starting a new NFL chapter elsewhere.

“There are things that seem more plausible or likely which I won’t get into. The most important thing is first the commitment to playing – and going into the offseason and training – and after that, it’s conversations with my agent and Brian and looking at the desires of the team and the mindset moving forward and make a decision from there,” the 38-year-old said.

Although it was reported by last month by NFL Network that Green Bay has “confidence” in Rodgers’ return, the quarterback has been linked to the Broncos, who recently hired Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett as their new head coach following the firing of Vic Fangio.

The Broncos had veteran journeyman Teddy Bridgewater under center for most of the 2021 season before he was placed on injured reserve in January. Drew Lock, whom Denver drafted in the second round in 2019, is also on the roster.

If the stars somehow aligned with Rodgers potentially heading to the AFC West to reunite with Hackett, the road to the playoffs would have a few roadblocks in the forms of Derek Carr, Justin Herbert and Patrick Mahomes.

Time will certainly tell if Rodgers decides to remain a Packer, don the orange and blue, or call it a career altogether.
