Cops on Saturday searched the last known home of Harmony Montgomery, the 7-year-old New Hampshire girl who was reported missing last week but hasn’t been seen for more than two years.
Law enforcement agencies went to a home in Manchester, New Hampshire that was the child’s last known address, WMUR reported. It was the second search of the home where authorities say she was last seen, when cops responded to a “call for service” in October 2019, the New Hampshire Union Leader reported.
Authorities released no details about the search. The home’s current owners are not connected to the case.
Two men were seen leaving the home with a large piece of equipment used to detect and map out ground areas and find voids beneath concrete, Patch.com reported. A short time later, Manchester police removed a large brown paper evidence bag from the scene.
Police only learned last week from the New Hampshire Division for Children, Youth and Families that the girl, who is blind in one eye, had gone missing. It is not clear how her disappearance went unnoticed. Manchester Police Chief Allen Aldenberg said he believes the last time Harmony was enrolled in a school that she was a student in Massachusetts and likely would have been of kindergarten age, Boston.com reported.
Her father, Adam Montgomery, who had custody of the girl, was arrested Tuesday on assault and other charges related to her disappearance. He told police that Harmony’s mother, Crystal Sorey, had picked the girl up. But Sorey claims the last time she saw the child was in a video call on Easter in April 2019, NBC News reported.
Montgomery has a long arrest history in New Hampshire and Massachusetts that includes assaults, felony gun charges, robbery and shooting and wounding a drug dealer, according to Patch.com
Harmony’s stepmother, Kayla Montgomery, 31, was arrested Thursday on welfare fraud charges and was accused of obtaining $1,500 in food stamps for the child between December 2019 and June 2021, even though Harmony was not living with her.
A reward for information about her disappearance has grown to $94,000, Manchester Police said in a Facebook post.
