‘Jeopardy!’ has found their new hosts for Season 38
The “Jeopardy!” roulette wheel spins on as the game show continues to shuffle through different hosts.
Season 38 of the long-running trivia show will premiere sometime in 2022 with Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings at the helm as hosts.
“We are delighted to let you know that Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings will continue to share hosting duties through the end of Jeopardy! Season 38, and Michael Davies will remain as executive producer,” Sony recently said in a statement. “We’re so pleased to have such an excellent and experienced team in front of and behind the camera as we head into 2022!”
Bialik, 45, and Jennings, 47, both took over hosting following the ousting of the show’s former executive producer Mike Richards.
Richards, 46, was fired from the show just nine days into the job after sexist comments he’d made on a podcast were unearthed.
The “Big Bang Theory” star’s hosting gig was announced in August 2021, and episodes featuring her aired through Nov. 5. Jennings then filled her shoes for the rest of the 2021 season.
Iconic host Alex Trebek died in November 2020 from pancreatic cancer. Since his passing, “Jeopardy!” has had a slew of guest hosts to do the job. LeVar Burton, Katie Couric, Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Anderson Cooper, Aaron Rodgers, Savannah Guthrie, Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Dr. Mehmet Oz are just a few of the celebrities to have hosted the show over the past year.
Jennings confessed last month in a USA Today profile that he was “just terrified” to replace the legendary Trebek. The former contestant was returning to the show as its host near the first anniversary of Trebek’s passing.
“Apparently, everyone was aware that we were going to air [this episode] on the anniversary and nobody told me,” he told the publication.
“They didn’t want to put that in my head. So I was not told until after [filming the episode] that it was the Nov. 8 show,” he continued, adding that he also wore a pair of Trebek’s own cuff links that were given to him by the Canadian native’s widow, Jean Currivan Trebek.
Jennings explained, “It’s a very tricky job. The mechanics of hosting ‘Jeopardy!’ are daunting. There’s a lot going on at once, and Alex made it all look so easy. But I can tell you firsthand, it’s not easy.”
