Matthew Stafford’s wife, Kelly, says she won’t attend road games after pretzel incident

Kelly Stafford won’t be attending Rams road games after her “pretzelgate” drama.

The wife of quarterback Matthew Stafford said on her podcast Tuesday that it was the Rams star who suggested she should take a break from attending away games.

Kelly agreed, following an incident last week in which she threw a pretzel at a 49ers fan at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco. In a post-pretzel apology, she said she was being heckled.

“I’m human, I make mistakes, and I own up to them, I don’t f—king hide from them, that’s not me,” Kelly said on “The Morning After” podcast.

“I’ve always been taught, I wear my heart on my sleeve so I do stuff probably in a hot second, but I also realize in a hot second, not the best, and I go up and I apologize.”

Kelly explained that she offered to buy the fan and his partner food and drinks, but he declined. She was then escorted out of the stadium just five minutes into the game — which ended in a Rams loss, 31-10, to the 49ers.

She went on to claim that the fan began yelling that she was Stafford’s wife, and that he “wasn’t having” her apology — and even tried to keep the pretzel as a “souvenir.”

“Being a professional athlete’s significant other, you don’t wave want to bring attention to yourself negatively,” Kelly said on her podcast, admitting, “I f–king lost it and here we are.”

After the incident, Kelly said her husband “giggled” and told her, “Well, I wish I was as accurate as you were, but I guess only one person in the family was accurate that night.” Stafford finished the Week 10 loss completing 26 of 41 passes, throwing for 243 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

He added, “Maybe if I wasn’t playing so sh–ty the guy wouldn’t be able to say as much to you.”

Kelly said her DMs were flooded with lewd messages from internet trolls, including comments calling her a “c–t.” She also said that she was sober during the “embarrassing” incident.
