NYC Amazon worker fatally struck by unlicensed driver and fellow employee

A female Amazon worker was fatally struck by a car illegally driven by a fellow employee in front of the company’s Staten Island warehouse late Saturday, police said.

The 24-year-old victim was attempting to cross Fifth Street around 11:30 p.m. when she was hit by a Honda Accord traveling west, cops said. The driver, who also worked at the facility, was unlicensed, authorities said.

The victim suffered head and body trauma and was rushed to Richmond University Medical Center but couldn’t be saved, cops said.

The 19-year-old driver remained on the scene, cops said. The illegal motorist hadn’t been charged as of Sunday evening.

The dead woman’s identity was pending family notification, cops said.

“Our deepest sympathies are with our employee’s family and loved ones during this tragic time, and we’ll continue to support authorities throughout the investigation,” said Amazon spokesman Kent Hollenbeck in a statement.
