It was a very ‘ominous’ start for the Cleveland Guardians

The Cleveland Guardians have to hope this is not a sign of things to come.

In their first day having rebranded from the Cleveland Indians, the Guardians are off to an inauspicious start. The first issue is that the sign from their team store has broken off.

Another issue is that fans cannot yet buy some of the team’s official merchandise yet.

#Guardians announce that jerseys and official on-field hats are not available to purchase but should be by the start of the 2022 season,” tweeted Cleveland radio personality Daryl Ruiter. “Select historic merchandise, including #Indians and Chief Wahoo apparel, will remain available at the team shop.”

The franchise announced in July that they would be enacting this change to their team name. Given it has been several months since then, one would think that they would have been more prepared to capitalize.
