Drunken LI man crashes boat into jetty

Now he’s up a creek without a paddle.

A Long Island man was arrested for boating while drunk after he crashed the 26-foot vessel into a jetty, police said Friday.

William Brosveld, 46, was cruising with another man through the Great South Bay near Sayville around 5:50 p.m. Thursday when he slammed his 2007 Century boat into the rocky wall — then left it beached diagonally on top of the barrier, according to Suffolk County Police and photos.

Marine Bureau cops responded to the accident, which occurred near Browns River Road, and charged Brosveld of Patchogue with operating a vessel under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Both men were taken to the Long Island Community Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

In July, a man allegedly drunkenly crashed a boat into a jetty in the same area and was charged with boating while intoxicated, police said.
