Sarah Sanders secures key endorsements in Arkansas governor race

Sarah Sanders netted a string of critical endorsements this week in her run for Arkansas governor.

Key among them is term-limited incumbent Asa Hutchinson, Fox News reported.

“I’ve known Sarah Huckabee Sanders most of her life and know firsthand her love for our state and her heart for public service,” Hutchinson said Friday. “Sarah has earned the Republican nomination and I’m delighted today to endorse her for governor.”

The former Trump press secretary also locked up the state’s two senators, Tom Cotton and John Boozman, and their four-person congressional delegation, Reps. Rick Crawford, French Hill, Bruce Westerman and Steve Womack.

As a close Trump confidante, Sanders had long been considered the inside favorite for the GOP nomination. The former president endorsed her for the job in January. She is also the daughter of Mike Huckabee, a popular former governor of the state.

On Tuesday the state’s Attorney General, Leslie Rutledge, abandoned her quest for the nomination and urged the party to unite behind Sanders.
