Man arrested for making death threat to Long Island congressman: cops

A Long Island man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly making a death threat to Congressman Andrew Garbarino — one of 13 House Republicans who supported the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill.

Kenneth Gasper, 64, is accused of phoning in the threat directed at Garbarino — who represents parts of Long Island — on Wednesday, according to Nassau police.

Authorities said Gasper allegedly acted out because he didn’t agree with a “recent congressional vote” made by the lawmaker.

Gasper was charged with aggravated harassment, police said.

Garbarino voted in favor of the infrastructure bill on Nov. 5 — along with a dozen of his GOP colleagues in the House.

Since then the lawmakers have come under heavy fire from members within their own party.

On Wednesday, Garbarino spoke to The Post about the recent harassing comments directed at him.

“I’ve had the police at my house, and they’re more concerned about these [threats] that have been coming in than the ones I’ve gotten in the past,” Garbarino said.

“There are members of Congress that are fundraising off of their misinformation and attacking us, and it’s causing us to get death threats on the other side.”
