Yankees bring back Joely Rodriguez on one-year deal

The Yankees received a boost to their bullpen Wednesday night when they announced the signing of left-hander Joely Rodriguez.

According to a source, Rodriguez will get a one-year deal worth $2 million.

The move came just days after the Yankees declined Rodriguez’s $3 million team option and gave him a $500,000 buyout, so they saved $500,000.

The 30-year-old was acquired from the Rangers in the deal that brought Joey Gallo to The Bronx after medical concerns arose about another lefty, John King, who originally was involved in the deal.

Rodriguez was solid after the trade, allowing six earned runs in 19 innings and finishing with a 1.42 WHIP in 21 appearances for the Yankees after compiling worse numbers as a Ranger.
