Unmasked rider throws hot coffee in NJ Transit bus driver’s face: cops

An irate bus passenger threw hot coffee in a driver’s face after he was asked to don a mask Wednesday morning in Midtown, cops said.

The passenger got on the New Jersey Transit bus at the Port Authority Bus Terminal on Eighth Avenue around 6:20 a.m., cops said.

When the driver asked him to wear a mask, the man “threw a hot cup of coffee in the driver’s face,” a police source said.

“The bus is pretty much empty!” the passenger complained, according to cops.

The driver suffered pain to his right eye, but it wasn’t clear if he was taken to the hospital, cops said. The assailant was described as about 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds, cops said.
